The Riyadh Chamber, represented by the Contracting Committee, organized a meeting on Tuesday, January 18, to introduce the services provided by the Saudi Contractors Authority (SCA) and its efforts to develop the sector by highlighting a several initiatives launched by the Authority to advance the sector.
Engr. Ahmed Al-Aboudi, Head of the organizational affairs at SCA, explained that the sector's contribution in the GDP amounted to 6%, clarifying that the size of the contracting market amounts to about SR 255 billion annually.
Al-Aboudi added that the number of companies in the sector is 170,000, the SMEs and micro businesses of which represent 98%, and said that the total number of workers in the sector is about 2.9 million, 10% of which are Saudis. The interest in the sector is shared by more than 30 agencies in both the public and private sectors, making the sector of supreme importance, especially since a contractor plays a major role in implementing the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 projects and goals.
