Ministry of Labor and Social Development (MLSD): 2500 Voluntary Opportunities are Open in the Kingdom

​Riyadh Chamber, represented by the Social Responsibility Committee, organized a familiarizing meeting for the Saudi Volunteer Work Organization programs on Wed. 22 Feb. 2017. The meeting was attended by an elite group of volunteering leaders. The meeting started with a speech by Mr. Othman Hashim, Saudi Arabia's representative to the International Association for Volunteer Effort, Chairman of Khairu Ummah Enterprise. Dr. Salim Al-Dini, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Development, said that the MLSD has helped in initiating about 2500 opportunities of voluntary works in MLSD's centers all over the Kingdom, and made them available to interested volunteers. Mr. Najeeb Al-Zamil, Board Chairman of the Saudi Volunteer Work Organization, indicated that volunteering has developed significantly and even outdid that of some government agencies. Mr. Fahad Al-Hammadi, Chairman of Social Responsibility Committee of Riyadh Chamber, emphasized the importance of volunteering indicating the leading role of Riyadh Chamber in this connection in the framework of its social responsibility for charitable works. Mr. Yousef Al-Kathim, Chairman of Arab Federation for Voluntary Activities, revealed that the number of voluntary works in many world countries has proven that Saudi Arabia is a volunteer work leader and added that launching the Volunteer Award is a Saudi idea that has been adopted by the federation. Dr. Mohammed Al-Ansari, Secretary-General of the Volunteer Award, presented a detailed discussion about the Award and reviewed a number of initiatives made by trainees of the International Volunteering License.
