Riyadh – The head of Recruitment Committee for the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) said an Asian country is legally pursuing Saudi recruitment officials and businessmen threatening them with fines and jail time if they visit the country, Al-Youm newspaper reported.
The threats are based on complaints filed by workers returning to their home country after working in the Kingdom.
Waleed Al-Sowaidan, said several recruitment businessmen were placed on a blacklist in the country when they arrived. Several businessmen were forced to pay fines to continue their work or to be allowed to leave.
Al-Sowaidan said the recruitment laws here limit the liability to recruitment companies to three months after a recruited worker arrives. After that period the employer is responsible for the worker.
Sources said the National Committee for Recruitment at the RCCI requested the Labor Ministry to coordinate follow-ups on complaints sent to recruitment companies against employers. – SG
